About the twenty first issue

Why have we gone missing? What’s in store?

< 1 min read

We started The World of Apu back in November 2017 with the aim of being a multilingual space for cinema. We have been running the magazine for over 3 years now, releasing an issue every two months. After twenty issues, we have now decided to take a break—life and work and everything else in between sneak up on you when you’re least expecting. We also want to pause and reflect on what we have done so far, and what we wish to do in the future.

Looking back, we have to admit we are proud of the work we have done. More than forty interviews, reports from many film festivals, personal essays, and thoughtful articles about films from different countries. All of it will continue to remain online. We had the opportunity to meet and speak to some remarkable people, we managed to make some wonderful memories along the way. (We still haven’t met each other though!) We hope to be back but when and how we don’t know yet!

We received two articles from our longtime readers/ supporters/ contributors, Karthick and Konstantinos, which we felt we should publish before we disappear for a bit.

We would like to thank everyone who thought us worthy of their time and money. Our Patreon account is now on hold; the money we received so far will allow us to keep our website running.

We hope to be back, refreshed and ready to give the magazine what it needs, but we don’t yet know when. Until then, stay safe, stay curious!

Best,
Anusha & Ram
